While many of you are probably anxious or nervous to begin, let me reassure you that you will be participating in a safe, bully-free classroom.

This class has 25 students enrolled, with 12 grade 5's and 13 grade 6's.

September and October will be challenging and fast paced. As a firm believer in "character", expect there to be much emphasis on respect from everyone towards staff and students.

There will be at least 80 minutes of math and 100 minutes of literacy every day. A classroom timetable is posted in the left menu under "Classroom Timetable" to help prepare you every day.
There will be approximately 15 - 30 minutes of homework every night.

I cannot over stress the importance of homework completion every night. If you are absent, the homework will be assigned on the "Web Calendar" in the menu bar to the left. Parents, please use the calendar to make sure your child is focused and current

Failure to complete homework will only lead to frustration and difficulty with lessons and homework to come. Be prepared and keep up.

Never hesitate to ask for help. Chances are, if you are having problem with a question, several others in the class are as well. Be brave and raise your hand or see me prior to class.

Set a goal for yourself to raise your hand twice throughout the day.

Come prepared. Students should be ready with 3 hole lined paper, several sharpened pencils, several pens, a ruler, eraser and a calculator. Duotangs will be supplied for you.

The computers at Dunsford feature Microsoft 2007 products. In Microsoft Word, these files are saved as ".docx".   Many parents and students have expressed concerns that their home computer cannot read these new files without buying an expensive new Microsoft product.
If you click on the link below, you can download a FREE converter to allow older Microsoft products to open ".docx" files.

New Resources! - Trillium Lakelands District School Board has a license for the encyclopedia Grolier. It is an excellent resource for all subjects. Students may access this encyclopedia online at home.
Username: trillium
Password: tril7859

This should help students when they are trying to find reliable information on the internet for research projects.

The calendar of events is a very handy tool that will display upcoming trips, school events and notable dates for assignments.

In the future, there will be several picture links featured on our site. While there will be many pictures being taken throughout the year, to protect student identity, only pictures without a front profile will be displayed and only if you have agreed to the consent form.

Want to see something that isn't on this site?...Let me know!

Enjoy!  --  Mr. Thompson
