Welcome Back
I would like to welcome the students back to Langton for this 2010/11 school year. There will be a lot to look forward to, especially for the Grade 8 students. For the grade eights this year especially, there will be more integration into the regular classroom to prepare them for their Grade 9 year in High School. There are also some changes this year with regards to Report Cards. Students will receive a Progress Report in November reporting on 6 key Learning Skills and Work Habits, and the Standard Provincial Report Cards will be delivered in January and June of this school year.
I do ask that you check your child’s agenda on a daily basis and initial each day. If you do have any questions or concerns, please advise via the agenda or leave a phone message at the school. The Meet the Teacher BBQ is on September 23 starting at 5pm for the food and 6pm to tour the classroom.
As a take home project this year, I would like the students to take home a camera for a day and take pictures of their family, neighbourhood, etc so that they may create a Power Point Presentation about themselves to the classroom. There is a permission slip at the bottom of this newsletter for you to sign and return if you agree to allow your child to take appropriate family photos and around the house and neighbourhood.
I look forward to seeing you at the BBQ.
Sincerely,
Mr. George
